The next Executive Director will have meaningful latitude to help shape the organization's future while respecting its history, public purpose, and obligations to borrowers, funders, partners, and communities.

Working closely with the Board, staff, lenders, funders, public partners, and regional stakeholders, the Executive Director will strengthen portfolio performance and borrower service, build organizational capacity, develop sustainable funding and partnership strategies, and establish a clear strategic and operational direction supported by measurable economic outcomes.

No one candidate is expected to offer every desired qualification. MBAC is looking for a credible, disciplined, and relationship-oriented leader who can guide strategic renewal.

Strategic Leadership

Partner with the Board to establish priorities, goals, performance measures, and organizational direction.

Organizational Leadership

Lead MBAC's people, operations, systems, workflows, and culture with clarity and accountability.

Financial Stewardship

Oversee financial health, budgeting, cash flow, reserves, controls, forecasting, and resource planning.

Lending and Portfolio Leadership

Steward MBAC's lending programs and loan portfolio while strengthening responsible deployment of capital.

Regional Economic Development

Advance business creation, retention, expansion, succession, and access to capital throughout the service area.

Public-Private Partnerships

Build relationships across business, government, financial, funding, and community partners.

Compensation and Location

This is a full-time, exempt position based in Helena, Montana, serving Lewis and Clark, Broadwater, Meagher, and North Jefferson counties. Regular regional travel and community engagement are integral to the position.

Compensation: $95,000 to $125,000, with flexibility based upon skills and experience.
